Department of Civil Engineering

The department of civil engineering has been prominent in the growth of the institute since 1966. Currently department has been offering two programme’s B-Tech in Civil Engineering and M-Tech in Computer Aided Structural Design and Drafting. The department has been continuously striving for achieving the academic excellence and bridging the gap between industry-institute. Department has well equipped laboratories such as structural engineering, concrete lab, road and material testing lab, applied mechanics lab, soil mechanics lab, computer lab, fluid mechanics lab and environmental engineering lab. The infrastructure and work force of the department have been continuously striving for developing the department as centre for academic excellence. Department has been offering the consulting services to various public and private firms in the region and abroad. The department has the faculty qualified from the institutes of national importance. The department has been well balanced with eight of its senior faculty having academic experience more than two decades and five faculty have joined recently under TEQIP III post completion of masters from leading IIT‘s. Faculty members have published research papers in various journals and conferences of national and international repute. Several students have been pursuing their doctoral degree under the esteemed guidance of the senior faculty members in the department.

To promote quality technical education in the field of civil engineering through knowledge sharing, research and consultancy for satisfying the industrial and societal needs with a focus on:

• Preparing the students in facing the competitive world and instill the thrust for indulging in life-long learning.
• Strengthening the institute-industry interaction through information sharing and offering solutions to their problems.
• Inculcating professional and technical knowledge imparting innovative thinking, ethical values and core competencies in nurturing the future civil engineers.
